Some of my favorite cartoons are the one panel versions, where the joke has to be told instantly. It allows for change of characters that can be quite refreshing to draw. Inspiration can come from anywhere...from casual conversations with acquaintances or from other media.
One panel cartoons can also be quite a challenge as there are no set-up panels to develop the punchline. The artist should be able to choose the perfect frame to include all the necessary visuals to convey the humour.
